DSM GeoData, with IGN FI captured and collected the data required for the Scottish Paths Record. The purpose of the contract was to create a definitive record of paths, tracks and access routes throughout the whole of Scotland. The work involved digitising all paths and tracks from existing maps, visiting and liasing with every Scottish Local Authority to acquire attribution information and attributing the path geometry according to a comprehensive set of criteria. The creation of the Scottish Paths Record enables access strategies to be devised by the Local Authorities, to allow them to record core paths and to create effective path management strategies.
